One last thing before you leave.

Dear Alison,

Nine months ago when you stopped smoking, drinking, partying and going to the gym we were worried. Ever since we found out that "the bean" was the cause for your reformed ways, we've been reveling in your irreproachable behavior and preggers' glow.

From the first (alien-esque) sonogram to your (gigantic) baby shower, we have been lucky to be a part of the ripening of the bean.

Your stories never cease to spread wonder, amazement and often, knee-slapping laughter. Three months without you will inevitably be quieter, and a lot less fun.

To keep a little bit of you with us, and to start off a journal you'll be able to look back on years from now....

We present your blog, ...And The Bean Makes Four.

Here's to all the joy that Fiona will bring to your lives and ours.

Love Always,

Your Digital Public Affairs Team

Cheers! I'll definitely be counting the days till my partner in crime returns and retakes her proper place as queen of new biz.

It's going to be awfully quiet over on this side of the office for the next few months. Who else can I count on to keep me entertained with stories that are crazier than mine? You will be missed, so, please, keep us laughing.

Thank you for indirectly welcoming me to the Digital Public Affairs team by making me laugh every single day. My two favorite moments are the Lasagna Incident (just my second day on the job) and the recent Comcast Protest. Fiona has a great mom!

Congratulations on becoming a mom! I know you and Matt will be wonderful parents. :-) (And I have no doubt that Fiona is going to be the best-dressed baby ever, ha.)

PLEASE come back and visit...it's going to be really tough to survive three months without the one and only Ali Armentrout!

Can't wait to share in all the fun. Congrats again!

If you hear me at my desk wailing
It's because I miss Whelan
Without your new business
I'm afraid Mike will grow listless
Still no one is happier than our team
About the amazing girl that is the bean

We'll miss you!

A few things:

I remember when we first had hopes that you and Matt would eventually have your own Bobby Joe Whale-n'-Trout (Whelantrout). How wonderful that the dream is now being realized, but with a much nicer name! But even though we love the name Fiona, the poor girl better be prepared to be called "bean" for the first half of her life, as this blog is doign a pretty good job of perpetuating that name....

Lastly, we couldn't be happier for you, and sincerely want you to come back to us as soon as possible. And if you can't be with us, please do post an "Ali Quote of the Day" on here regularly. Hopefully we can expect some good ones; I have a feeling motherhood will give you some good material.

Congrats, Ali!

Since you're so entertaining when you're here, it seems only fitting that we give you a voice to continue while you're away. There's no doubt that this cubeland will sadly be much more low-key without you around. From billing the Comcast lady for wasting your time to not-so-private love quarrels with Matt, you will be missed - so PLEASE keep us entertained while you're out.

Best of luck in the months ahead! Can't wait to meet Fiona!

I've only known you for about six weeks, and already you've made me laugh about a hundred times. Can't wait to read your posts! Good luck with the baby.

Ali, I am so excited for you and Matt! That said, you will be missed(even on the 6th floor). Please, please, please provide updates on all of your adventures and misadventures with Fiona!

oh..and by the way...I have a bottle of "urinegone" that might come in handy during diaper duty.

Ali, sugar, this is so exciting! I think it's obvious that we're all having the same mixed feelings about you being out for a few months. We're excited to welcome the bean to the world, but will SO miss you and your hilarity. I'm thrilled that we'll be able to keep up with you here. You'd better at least attempt to post every now and then ... otherwise, Jenna and I will come attach a video camera to your forehead and we'll turn this into a video blog. ;)

We are going to miss you so much here! You truly are one of the reasons I love coming to work each day.

Fiona is one lucky baby. Can't wait to hear all the hillarious baby tales on the blog!

You have no idea how lost this lot is going to be without you. Treasure every moment of the next few weeks. It's going to be the most special of your life. But rest assured, you'll be missed every moment you're gone.

Ah Ali, how we will miss you, but love that we get to be part of such a special time in your (and Fiona's) life. All of her new digital aunts and uncles eagerly anticipate her arrival!

Ali dear,

I'M SO EXCITED for Fiona to finally come out and play with us. I can't wait to come to your new home in Egypt to see her and the Fur.

I can't consider three months of your absence in the office without my head spinning exorcist-style, so I’m going to ignore that bit of it for now.

Much love to you and Matt, the Fur and now Fiona!

Bean makes four:
-4 hours of sleep a night
-14 diapers a day
-40 onsies from baby gap

And lets not forget:
-4 years of college tuition

But it also means:
the 4sight to understand what you can teach her and what she must learn herself.

And that:
4ever you will love your little girl.

Congratulations. Your world will forever be changed, in a not just mildly better sort of way, but in the best, most brilliant, most utterly surprising ways. Cannot wait to meet the little bean.

So I must confess I am a little jealous- this is the greatest idea and I wasn't the first to post a comment. As Fiona's aunt I feel that I should have come up with this fantastic idea- but I didn't
:(

Anyway I am so excited to meet my little neice- I know she will bring such joy and excitement to us all

Best I've seen so far - the SandyCarol nomination:
Bobby Joe Whale-n'-Trout (Whelantrout).
Definitely calls for a reconsideration. May not be Irish but it's got a certain pizzaz.

Boat still ain't in the vasser - and it's COLD. Inauspicious start to the sailing season.
